The tingle forests are living ancestors. It’s time we treated them that way.

This stately old tingle tree has stood on this hill outside rainy Walpole for hundreds of years.

Tingle trees are incredibly special and found only in this tiny pocket of the world. They depend on high rainfall to survive, but cannot withstand fire.

For tens of thousands of years Pibelmen Noongar people cared for these forests without burning them. Today, DBCA burns them every eight or so years and fire gets into their stunning skirts.

Scientists say just three burns like these are enough to kill a tingle. It’s a devastating and terrifying cycle for these ancient forests and for everyone who loves them.

We must stop burning these majestic, irreplaceable forests and learn from Pibelmen Noongar people about taking proper care of them now and for generations to come.
