I love this tree in the Cairns Botanical Gardens because it was incredibly tall and old.

Richard Powers (author of ‘the Overstory’) says it best: “This is not our world with trees in it. It’s a world of trees, where humans have just arrived.”

They give me shade and they sway, as if speaking a language that soothes, as if giants forever on this world, looking at us, standing stoic amidst the change.

This picture is a giant Sequoia tree from the Sequoia National Park in California. Some of the trees in this park are over 3000 years old. They can grow to over 95m tall and have trunk diameters of over 8m.

They moderate our urban environment, clean our air, cool our neighbourhoods, buffer our homes from storms, and provide a peaceful sanctuary from the noisy city.

I love where there is space left for a tree in a built-up area.

I love trees since they are the green heart in a city. In old parks you can find peace in the middle of a city

They speak to me, they help me feel calm. Ps sorry about the bins. 😳🤦‍♀️ This is a Queensland Kauri pine now on Sydney harbour foreshore.

I love trees because they make me feel calm. In our photo are two trees (Norfolk pines), 2 humans (Natalie and Lilly) and one dog (Poppy).

Trees are so important especially in big cities like Katmandu, Nepal as they help improve air quality and reduce heat ♥️ pic with my little sister!

I love this beautiful olive tree which provides us lots of olives and delicious oil 🫒

Trees provide us with clean air, shade, food, medicine, homes for animals…. We couldn’t live without trees!

They give me oxygen to breath, and space to think.

They are the essence of Life

This is my verge hakea, grown from a small sapling. I love it for it’s beautiful pin cushion flowers and fruits which attract endangered Carnaby’s cockatoos…

They provide so much to the world

This tree is part of an old growth forest in southwestern Australia at Dalgarup that is threatened by mining. It is my happy place.
