They give me shade and they sway, as if speaking a language that soothes, as if giants forever on this world, looking at us, standing stoic amidst the change.
This picture is a giant Sequoia tree from the Sequoia National Park in California. Some of the trees in this park are over 3000 years old. They can grow to over 95m tall and have trunk diameters of over 8m.
They moderate our urban environment, clean our air, cool our neighbourhoods, buffer our homes from storms, and provide a peaceful sanctuary from the noisy city.
